Recording your Michigan POA
Michigan lets a power of attorney containing a power to convey lands, once it is acknowledged or proved, be recorded in the registry of deeds of any county where the land is situated, and the record or a certified transcript may then be read in evidence like a recorded conveyance (Mich. Comp. Laws §565.36). That section does not require the power of attorney to be recorded.
The recording office is the Register of Deeds of any county in which the land lies. See Mich. Comp. Laws §565.36 (a letter of attorney or other instrument containing a power to convey lands, when acknowledged or proved, may be recorded in the registry of deeds of any county in which the lands are situated, and the record or a certified transcript may be read in evidence like a recorded conveyance).
